Congressman Shreve's Legislation, the “Build The Wall Act” Included in the “One Big Beautiful Bill”

July 3, 2025

Mr. Shreve announces the passage of the Budget Reconciliation bill — H.R.1. This bill delivers on campaign promises made to American voters to secure our southern border, and to make permanent the provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act.

Washington, DC — Congressman Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) joined House Republicans in advancing the budget reconciliation bill —H.R. 1 — to the President's desk. Provisions of Rep. Shreve's bill, The Build the Wall Act, were included in the final passage. Mr. Shreve’s bill provides additional construction funding to complete our southern border wall by utilizing unspent COVID funds. His bill puts taxpayer dollars toward something Americans want: A secure southern border.

Mr. Shreve said, "H.R.1 — the budget reconciliation bill — provides tax relief for ALL Americans. The bill provides for our largest investment in our border and national security. And it puts America on a path toward faster economic growth.

I'm thankful to have my legislation to fund and secure our southern border pass. The President will soon sign provisions of The Build the Wall Act into law. 70 million Americans voted for change last November. This budget bill delivers on the America First agenda, and on promises made in the campaign. It provides enhanced tools for our border patrol agents working to secure our southern border. It ends taxpayer-funded healthcare for more than 1.4 million illegal immigrants, while maintaining access for those Americans the system was designed to assist.

This legislation delivers tax relief by making permanent the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act. The legislation unleashes American energy production. It encourages increased domestic manufacturing. The bill’s removal of the tax burden on tips, on Social Security, and on overtime will leave more money in the pockets of hardworking Hoosiers. We're delivering meaningful results for Hoosier families, workers and employers alike."
