Shreve Introduces First Bill In Congress To Finish Building The Southern Border Wall With COVID Funds

February 4, 2025

Washington, DCU.S. Congressman Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) introduced his first bill in the 119th Congress. His bill will deliver on the Republican promise to secure the border. The Build The Wall Act will complete the construction of the southern border wall by utilizing existing COVID funds.

Shreve's bill establishes a Southern Border Wall Construction Fund that will utilize unspent COVID recovery money from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF). His bill will require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to utilize these unspent COVID funds to complete the wall along America’s southern border.

Mr. Shreve said, “COVID funds have been mishandled for years. It’s time to put these taxpayer dollars to use toward something the American people want: A secure border. My first bill will deliver upon a commitment to every community and family that have been damaged by Biden’s open border policies. It is past time to secure the entirety of our southern border.”

A companion bill has been introduced in the Senate by Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY).
