Rep. Jefferson Shreve Announces House Committee Appointments
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Congressman Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) announced his appointment to the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Congressman Shreve offered the following statement:
“I’m honored to be appointed to serve on both the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Indiana’s 6th district is truly at the crossroads of America. Transportation is a priority. I’m eager for this opportunity to work on building — and in some cases — rebuilding… our nation’s highway, airport and rail infrastructure. I’m similarly eager to get to work on implementing an America First agenda on Foreign Affairs — one of the oldest Congressional committees.”
Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (MO-06) said, “Congressman Shreve is an excellent addition to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. As someone who built his own successful small business from the ground up, his real world experience and input will be invaluable as the Committee works to build America’s infrastructure, improve the efficiency of our transportation systems, and ensure that taxpayer dollars dedicated to improving infrastructure are used wisely.”
Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (FL-21) said, "I'm proud to have Jefferson Shreve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. As a successful businessman, he brings a unique, outsider's perspective to reforming the State Department."
The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation – our aviation system, highways and bridges, transit and rail transportation, pipelines, and maritime and waterborne transportation. The Committee also has jurisdiction over wastewater infrastructure and the Nation’s emergency preparedness.
The House Foreign Affairs Committee will be responsible for oversight and legislation relating to foreign assistance, national security, international law, arms control, peacekeeping, and promoting democracy. It also addresses issues related to foreign policy, public diplomacy, and international communication. This will include holding drug cartels responsible for human trafficking and human rights violations.
