Shreve’s Push for Postal Progress Yields Results

August 11, 2025
Indianapolis, IN — After hearing from citizens across central Indiana about delays in mail distribution, Congressman Jefferson Shreve (R-IN) focused his attention on fixing problems at the USPS distribution hub in Indianapolis. Shreve reported results today: a 21% service improvement.
Mr. Shreve spearheaded a letter from Indiana’s Congressional delegation that pressed for action from the Postmaster General. Shreve got a firsthand look inside the massive sorting facility in Indy. Rep. Shreve stayed in front of USPS officials to address delivery problems that plagued the hub since it opened last year. When Shreve toured the facility, postal leaders acknowledged that planning and implementation of their plans for the large facility were the root of the problem.
Last December, the Indy distribution hub's on-time mail service performance was at 72%. Per the USPS, the hub's on-time mail service performance is now at 93%. The Congressman’s team continues to help constituents recover packages and track lost items.
Rep. Shreve said, "Since taking office, way too many constituents expressed frustration with delays at the USPS distribution hub in Indy. I led Indiana’s Congressional delegation to get answers. There are good people at our Postal Service, but the planning for this huge distribution hub was lousy — and it’s been costly. We are making progress. And I’ll keep my foot on the gas to continue delivering results.”
