Shreve To Refuse Salary During Potential Government Shutdown & Donate to Johnson County Boys and Girls Club

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Jefferson Shreve (R-IN) announced today that he will refuse his congressional salary if a government shutdown occurs. Once funding legislation is enacted, Rep. Shreve will donate the equivalent of his shutdown pay to the Johnson County Boys and Girls Club.

For more than 80 years, the Johnson County Boys and Girls Club in Franklin has served the community by providing safe, educational, and engaging environments for youth. Through exceptional programs, the Club helps empower kids to reach their full potential.

Mr. Shreve issued the following statement:

"House Republicans have done our job to pass legislation and keep the government open. Hoosiers should not have to pay the price because Democrats insist on playing politics. They have repeatedly voted against a clean, bipartisan funding bill—threatening vital government services and putting hardworking families at risk. I will not accept pay during any shutdown period. Instead, I will later donate that pay to the Johnson County Boys and Girls Club in Franklin. Hoosiers expect a government that works for them—and that’s the standard I’m holding myself to."
